General questions

What is a zine?
A fanzine is a fan-made publication spotlighting specific topics, series, characters or ships. Amor Fati is focused on sapphic characters and relationships in the Fate Universe and other TYPE-MOON franchises.

What does "saphic" mean?
Sapphic refers to women (and non-binary people) attracted to women (and non-binary people). It's an umbrella term that includes lesbians, bisexual woman, pansexual woman, and everything in between.

Who can participate?
Anyone who's interested in the themes of the zine will be considered for participation, all you need to do is send an application once we've opened contributor applications. This zine is focused on sapphic relationships, but anyone can join regardless of gender and sexual identity. Contributors under the age of 18 may participate, but they won't be able to receive payment unless they present authorisation from their parents of legal guardians.

What is the rating for this zine?
This project will be an all-ages project, and will not depict any sexual content.

Contributor questions

What kind of contributors are you looking for?
We're looking for artists, merch artists and writers.

Do I need to have Fate pieces in my portfolio to apply as a contributor?
Fate pieces are not necessary, though they are always appreciated. This is especially true for writers, since we will get a better idea of how you portray characters if we're already familiar with them.

What character/relationships can I portray for the zine?
You can portray any female or non-binary character from the Fate universe. They don't need to be canonically sapphic, and you don't necessarily have to portray them in a romantic relationship. The only thing that's mandatory for the pieces in portraying the character(s) sexuality in some way.

For instance, you may write a piece about Nero talking about her female lovers, or you may illustrate Gudako and Mash getting married.

Please note that some pairings may not be allowed (for example, Rin/Sakura, since they are sisters), though due to the nature of Fate as a franchise they will be decided on a case-by-case scenario. If you're not sure if your ship of choice would be allowed in the zine, feel free to contact the mods.

Are non-binary characters allowed?
Non-binary people who are attracted to women may fall under the sapphic umbrella, so yes! You may portray characters like Chevalier d'Eon, Astolfo or Avenger Nobunaga.

Trans characters, or trans interpretations of characters, are also welcome as long as they follow the guidelines of the zine. Transmasc characters like Caeneus do not fall under the sapphic umbrella, and therefore would not be allowed into the zine.

Are poly ships allowed?
Yes , as long as they follow the previous guidelines.

Production questions

Will the zine be physical or digital?
The zine will have both a physical and digital version. We will also have both digital and physical merch.

Besides the official, paid artbook, we will also be releasing a separate free zine. This separate zine will not be curated like the main artbook and will be released after production for the main artbook has been finalised.

Will the zine be for profit or for charity?
The zine will be split between charity and profit, meaning that contributors can choose whether they want to receive financial compensation for the zine, or if they want their share to be donated to charity. This way, contributors who may need the money can get it, while those who do not need it may choose to donate it.

Please remember that this depends heavily on the profit the zine makes. Our budget will go first to sending all contributors a free copy of the zine plus merch and to covering shipping costs. After these costs are covered, the leftover money will be distributed amongst the contributors.

(Contributor Guidelines)
You may apply as a contributor to Amor Fati's Artbook from May 31 to June 28. Please note that you may apply for more than one position, but you will only be chosen for one, in order to open the project to as many people as possible.

All contributors are expected to follow the project's schedule, follow the guidelines and communicate with the mods if they ever need to.

All contributors will reserve the rights to their own pieces and will be able to publish and/or sell them once the production process for the project is over (that is, until all books have been shipped to the customers). Until then, contributors may share work in process pictures and previews of their work.
